California Desert Association of REALTORS®' Young Professionals Network Raises Money For Candidates

PALM DESERT (Calif.) - The local chapter of the Young Professionals Network under the umbrella of the California Desert Association of REALTORS®, raised about $2,100 for the REALTORS® Political Action Committee that supports pro-REALTOR® political candidates nationwide.

Proceeds came from a raffle of an iPad tablet at the YPN mixer April 14 at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort and Spa. Richard Anderson of Sign-A-Rama won the iPad tablet.

The fundraising effort was part of a nationwide YPN campaign for RPAC, according to Heather Ozur, chair of the board of the California Desert Association of REALTORS® and co-chair of the local YPN.

Since 1969 RPAC has been promoting the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. During the last federal election cycle, RPAC contributed over $12 million to pro-REALTOR® candidates to Congress, making it the number one trade association political action committee in the nation.

"This is a positive step to insure our legislators are doing everything possible to guarantee the American dream of homeownership," Ozur said, of the Ozur Group at Keller Williams.

Ozur and TG Gallaudet of Gallaudet Properties co-chairs of the YPN chapter aimed at real estate professionals under 40 or "those who are young at heart." They also must be current members of the California Desert Association of REALTORS®.

"Each new generation brings a new perspective and approach to doing business, regardless of the industry, "Gallaudet said. "So far, we have assembled an incredible group of successful Realtors and affiliates for this CDAR chapter. " One way we want to give immediately back to the real estate community is to share some of our different ways of doing business, whether it's using the newest Web technologies for communication to our clients or cool mobile technologies that allow us to use powerful tools out in the field."

The California Desert YPN Chapter recently created its new website, www.desertypn.org where interested Realtors and affiliates can sign up and get additional information.

"We also plan to give back to the greater community through fund raisers and other community outreach programs," he said

Since 2009, Young Professionals Networks have started up throughout the United States under the National Association of REALTORS®.

The California Desert Association of REALTORS®, The Voice for Real Estate® for the Coachella Valley, represents more than 3,500 real estate professionals from Palm Springs to Coachella.
