California Desert REALTORS® Mingle
With Elected Officials At Annual Mixer

INDIAN WELLS (Calif.) — The California Desert Association of REALTORS® mingled with Coachella Valley city, Riverside County and California elected officials and representatives at the recent 5th Annual Local Government Relations Meet & Greet Mixer.
About 125 Realtors and governmental officials attended the social event at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa.
“The ‘Meet and Greet’ mixer has become an excellent opportunity to bring the local Realtors® and government officials together in an informal atmosphere where open discussion can be shared, ideas can be presented and the lines of communication are in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Desiree’ Otero, president of the California Desert Association of REALTORS®. It’s always great to put a face with a name and know the people involved.
“As one of the largest trade organizations in the country, Realtors® have a great responsibility to keep informed on issues that affect property rights, home ownership and legislative issues that affect real estate.  The purpose of the Local Government Relations Committee is to monitor government activity in desert cities, state and national levels and provide input from Realtors® on matters affecting real estate,” she said.
Officials attending the mixer included: Indian Wells Mayor Ed Monarch, City Council members Rob Bernheimer and Larry Spicer, Palm Springs Police Chief Gary Jeandron, Cathedral City Mayor Kathy DeRosa, Cathedral City Mayor Pro Tem Greg Pettis, Cathedral City Councilman Chuck Vazquez, Cathedral City Manager Don Bradley, Curt Watts of Rancho Mirage, Riverside County Assessor-Clerk Larry Ward, Riverside County Treasurer-Tax Collector Paul McDonnell ; Debra Beck, representing Assemblyman John Benoit, R-Palm Desert; Sherry VanDorn, representing Senator Jim Battin, R-La Quinta and Erica Ostrom, representing Bonnie Garcia, R-Cathedral City.
Otero praised the Local Government Relations Committee that monitors legislation affecting homeowners and the real estate industry.
The committee is comprised of: Chair Scott Newton, Dyson & Dyson Real Estate Associates; Sue Adams, American Realty Concepts; Gayle Braun, Century 21 Lois Lauer Realty; Lewis De Silva, De Silva Realty; Jack Easum, Realtor®; David Gibson, Rod Ernest Realty; Nancy Johnson, Cal Desert Real Estate; Stephen Love, Windermere Real Estate; Claudine Messika, Sotheby’s International Realty and John Puff, Executive Marketing.
The California Desert Association of REALTORS®, The Voice for Real Estate® for the Coachella Valley, represents 4,000 estate professionals from Palm Springs to Coachella.
