Desert REALTORS® Raise Funds
For Scholarships, Abused Children

PALM DESERT (Calif.) - The California Desert Association of REALTORS® raised $14,000 for high school scholarships and the Olive Crest. Home and Services For Abused Children during the recent 2008 Scholarship Golf Tournament at Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert.

Sue McCollum, president of the California Desert Association of REALTORS®, credited the "outstanding generosity" of the many local business sponsors for the fund-raising effort. She said proceeds would be split evenly between the scholarship fund and the Inland Empire/Desert Communities branch of Olive Crest.

Some 125 golfers played in the tournament while another 50 attended the dinner and awards presentation at Palm Valley. On April 24, the California Desert Association of REALTORS® awarded $1,000 each to 18 seniors from nine public Coachella Valley high schools, proceeds from the 2007Scholarship Golf Tournament. Students are selected on the basis of academic achievement and desire to continue their college education. The funds from this year's golf tournament were awarded to seniors in 2008.

The 2008 Golf Tournament results: The first team gross winners were Brad Schmett, Jeff Adkins, Michael Fogarty and John Zamora. The first place net winners were Keith Willard, Phil McLeroy, Joe Moreno and John Uselton. Closest to the pin winners for $100 gift certificates were Diane McMillan and Gregg Spierling. Straightest Drive winners were Lisa Schneider and Keith Willard. Diane Williams and Roger Morris were winners of the men's and women's longest drive.
