Desert REALTORS® Raise Funds
For Scholarships, Cancer Survivors

PALM DESERT (Calif.) — The California Desert Association of REALTORS® raised $17,628 for high school scholarships and the Theresa D. Holden Foundation for helping women living with breast cancer during the recent 2006 Scholarship Golf Tournament at PGA West in La Quinta.
Desiree’ Otero, president of the California Desert Association of REALTORS®, credited the “outstanding generosity” of the many local business sponsors for the record fund-raising effort. She said proceeds would be split evenly between the scholarship fund and the Theresa D. Holden Foundation.
Some 144 golfers played in the tournament, followed by dinner and awards presentation at the PGA West Stadium Clubhouse.
In April, The California Desert Association of REALTORS® awarded $16,000 each to 16 seniors from 9 public Coachella Valley high schools, proceeds from the 2005 Scholarship Golf Tournament. Students are selected on the basis of academic achievement and desire to continue their college education. The funds from this year’s golf tournament will be awarded to seniors in 2007.
The non-profit Theresa D. Holden Foundation was created by incoming CDAR President Emily DiSimone in honor of her late sister who died from breast cancer.
