California Desert REALTORS® Donate $16,000
In Scholarships To 16 High School Seniors

PALM DESERT (Calif.) — The California Desert Association of REALTORS® has awarded $16,000 in academic scholarships to 16 high school seniors from nine public Coachella Valley High Schools at their recent (April 28) Spring Scholarship Breakfast.
“We are always so proud to award these scholarships to such great young people who want to further their education,” said Desiree Otero, president of the California Desert Association of REALTORS®. “This year, we were able to include outstanding students from Amistad Continuation High School and Mount San Jacinto High School.”
Students were given $1,000 scholarships, a $500 increase over previous scholarships, “thanks to the hard work of our Golf Tournament Committee and Community Services Committee, which raises monies for scholarships,” she said.
“As the Coachella Valley grows and the number of students increases, it becomes more of a challenge to choose among the wonderful young people we have here,” Otero said. The selection process is tough, she said, noting that students are selected on the basis of academic achievement and desire to continue their college education.
The students, selected from the Scholarship Committee chaired by Maggie Hickman of Prudential California Realty are:

Maria Lopez, Diana-Pamela Armijo, Desert Hot Springs High School
Jordana Pepper, Sara Hahn, Palm Springs High School
Diego Battazar. Claudia Armandariz, Cathedral City High School
Nellie Forman, Beverly Hutching, Palm Desert High School
Allison Rokke, Victoria Dominguez, La Quinta High School
Marissa Hernandez, Daniel Grijalva, Indio High School
Carlos Alejandro Pineda, Marialena “Krystal” Machuca, Coachella High School
Nichole Carmack, Amistad Continuation High School
Christa A. Croissant, Mount San Jacinto High School
